Maximilian Silberman

I found Max on facebook. A friend posted some pictures of him and I was hooked. I love a boy-next-door who's covered with tattoos and especially the jet black hair and blue/green eyes.

I did a casting today with him for a look book shoot and took the picture above. Fortunately, Max had just moved here from LA and signed with Soul Artist Management. I was his first New York go-see. This is why I love my job. To see more of Max check out his facebook page here.

Thinking Pink

I recently noticed on facebook that my friend, fashion designer Chris Benz, keeps a folder of all things pink that inspire him, he's so committed to the color that he's even dyed his hair bright pink, and you know what it goes great with a navy blazer. We are definitely kindered spirits because I keep color folders too. Here are my two favorite images that I shared with him, not just because of the color, but I love the juxtoposition of the Manuel Canovas Balleroy Toile and the graffiti like artwork. I would totally cover a wall in the toile and hang this modern work on it.

Fun Junk Bags

I mentioned my amazing Fun Junk zebra bag on my last post and wanted to share he site. They are based in Washington State and make these incredible bags from recycled materials: canvas, blankets even horse-covers. The front of this bag is made from a perfectly distressed wool blanket, complete with loose threads and holes. The back is vintage canvas and stenciled with an old company from SF, the bag is lined in cotton, the durable straps are from parachute materials.

You can buy this bag here for $100. http://funjunkonline.com/live/shop/products/3759 There are other bags online as well you can contact them, they have hundreds of these bags and are super nice, I'm sure they would be happy to tell you about the bags they have in stock. These bags aren't for everyone, but if you like them, you'll LOVE them! Promise.

Merchandising a room

I recently rented the bungalow attached to my summer share house on Fire Island. There wasn't enough room in the closet and too much bad art on the walls so I just moved some things around and merchandised the room with my extra clothes. It was a win/win. Hanging on the walls are: djellaba by John Bartlett, scarf by John Varvatos, vintage beaded necklace from Bklyn Dry Goods, vintage zebra bag from Fun Junk.

Shirts from left to right: L.L. Bean Signature, August 15th, Engineered Garments, Michael Bastian and Michael Kors.

Tom Ford & Overalls

I've always loved the look of a guy in overalls, there's something a Lil'Abner/country bumpkin hot about them, plus my Fire Island crush was sporting a pair of a few weeks ago, get a pair for $38 from Dickies here http://www.dickies.com/product/product_detail.jsp?FOLDER%3A%3Afolder_id=2534374302024398&PRODUCT%3A%3Aprd_parent_id=2534374302024397&PRODUCT%3A%3Aprd_id=845524441761757 I also LOVE a man in glasses and these from Tom Ford take the overalls to a new level and give you the high/low thing that I love! Zac Efron

Zac is always so inspiring! Here he gets an impromptu workout in on the beach in a simple pair of Levis cut offs http://us.levi.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11305255&cp=3146842.3146845.11237928 and a classic white Bike jockstrap http://www.jockstrapcentral.com/productdisplay.php?product=08203 which are actually really difficult to find, trust me.
